As a licensed counselor, independent educational consultant, college professor, and attorney, Lisa has experience with strategic communications and student advocacy that spans over 20 years. After receiving a B.S. in Communications from Northwestern University and a M.A. in Communications Management from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California, she earned a J.D. from Delaware Law School.
Prior to launching College Mindful and after a career as a litigation lawyer and assistant state’s attorney, Lisa worked as a college professor and student advisor for English and business departments in the Chicagoland area. Since moving back to her home state of Connecticut, she regularly teaches a public speaking class at a community college. Working with college students and helping local high-schoolers with their personal statements and college applications translated perfectly to her mission of empowering college applicants to find their true passions, promote their best selves, and pursue their right-fit colleges.
In her role as a college consultant, Lisa has advised families from as far away as Bermuda, across the Midwest in Indiana and Illinois, and as near as her own neighborhood on search, selection, and application processes. She provides expert guidance virtually and in-person for all types of students with diverse learning styles, achievements, and ambitions. Lisa empowers students to increase chances, choices, and merit money while relieving stress and confusion through her personalized and systematized approach to the college application process.
Her services are designed to suit the personalities and purposes of all students, no matter what their past background or future goals including those from both private and public high schools. Whether a student is considering a top-tier, local state, large research, or small liberal arts school, Lisa’s expertise discovers right-fit colleges, maximizes applicant potential, and optimizes educational selections.
As a parent and school volunteer, Lisa understands school-based student support programs and believes college consulting should complement services available within the schools. Parenting four children in their teens and early 20s has given her first-hand experience of the pressures of the college-bound culture and the dynamics of parent-teen relationships as high-schoolers prepare to leave home.
She received certification in College Counseling from UCLA and is a professional member of National College Advocacy Group (NCAG). Lisa lives in Madison, Connecticut with her husband Brad and youngest son who is a junior in high school. Her other three children attend colleges across the country.
