Perform assessment of student values, interests, personality, and skills to generate an informed idea of who the student is, unleash a feeling of purpose, teach the art of self-promotion, and capitalize on strengths and build successful campaign for admission to highly competitive colleges.
Results also used in combination with detailed questionnaire on campus culture preferences to create the College List, generate ideas for top tier essays, and develop creative strategies to construct stand-out college applications.
Conduct exploration of career interests through research, internships, job shadows, informational interviews, and part-time employment also recommended.
THE COLLEGE LIST
Survey priorities for a preliminary list of college recommendations including location, size, majors, athletics, activities, and other individualized preferences.
Research and create a college list with right fit colleges with ongoing modification and organization of list adhering to balance of reach, target, and likely schools.
Determination of launch of Early Decision, Early Action, and Regular Decision phases.
Take note and plan for specific requirements unique to each college like AP tests and National Merit Awards.
Activities and Honors Lists
Create a creative, persuasive, and consistent personal brand incorporating accomplishments, extracurricular activities, hobbies, honors, and career exploration.
Craft a professional resume to be used for future employment, recommenders, college interviews, and as attachment or reference for sections of college applications.
Campus Interviews (Virtual and in-person)
Design of interview plan including art of persuasion, importance of charisma, and the power of story and connection.
Learn the science of body language, including eye-contact.
Understand the value of gratitude as reflected in follow-up communications and thank-you notes.
The College Essay
Includes attention to personal statement of 650 words and supplemental essays and short answers, particularly the “Why this College” essay.
Repeated and recurring brainstorm sessions to determine best topics, anecdotes, style, and organization. (I never write any part of the essay, the student is always the author with the authentic voice and ethos that I extract as an experienced college instructor of writing and public speaking.)
Attention to detail, editing, proof-reading, and a holistic review of essay as it contributes to overall positioning of student applicant.
Application Review
Accountability and quality control of each application and supporting materials by respective deadlines for stress-free experience until the final act of submission.
Review of acceptances, wait-lists, and deferral options to maximize top-college admission opportunities.
